Bhujangasana Yoga & Its Health Benefits

Bhujangasana comes from the word Bhujanga, which means Cobra or Snake, and Asana, which means Pose. Bhujangasana also known as Cobra Stretch. This Pose is in Suryanamaskar as well as in Padma Sadhana.

Bhujangasana, a Cobra Pose, is a pose that you do when you lie down on your stomach. It gives your body (especially your back) a good workout that will completely relieve your stress.

How To Do Bhujangasana

  • Lie on your stomach with your toes lying on the floor or on your hips.
  • Keep your legs adjacent together, with your feet and heels slightly touching each other.
  • Place both hands on the floor below your shoulders. Your knees should be close to your body.
  • Take a adequate breath and slowly lift your head, chest and abdomen. Keep your navel on the floor.
  • With your arms outstretched, pull your body back and forth from the floor. Be sure to apply the same pressure with both your palms.
  • Keep breathing as you turn your back, spine from spine. If possible, strengthen your hand by bending your back as much as possible. Bow your head back and look up.
  • Hold the Pose as you breathe in one place for 4-5 breaths.
  • Now, exhale, bring your abdomen, Chest and head back to the ground and rest.
