Steps To Do JanuSirsasana

  • To start the asana, sit on the floor with your back straight.
  • Straighten your legs.
  • Slowly bend your left knee as you place the bottom of your right leg to the inside of your right thigh. Keep your left leg and knee comfortable on the floor.
  • Your navel and chest should be in line with your right leg. This also puts your upper body in the correct position. Use your hands for support by holding them beside your hips.
  • Let it air out gently. Extend your upper body and straighten your arms up so that your spine is longer.
  • Exhale and slowly bend forward straight from the base of your hips as if you were moving straight forward from the hips to the buttocks.
  • Then, grab your toes or ankles with your hands if you can, or continue to stretch them until you feel comfortable.
  • Make sure you don’t stretch too far as this will only twist the spine and cause injury.
  • Hold the pose and breathe slowly and deeply. As you continue to breathe, the breath will gradually feel filling, back part of the right leg as well as the whole area of the back.
  • Finally, inhale and slowly release the pose. Allow the muscles in the abdomen to contract.
