Natarajasana Yoga & How To Do Natarajasana

In Sanskrit “Nata” means Dancing, Raja means King and Asana means Pose or Posture. According to Indian mythology, Lord Nataraja is the incarnation of Lord Shiva. People adore the Nataraja as Lord of the Dance. Nataraja danced the avatar of Lord Shiva, who represented his love for dance, music and arts. If there was a chance that the Natarajasana would be adjusted, it would take up one of Lord Shiva’s moves. Lord of the Dance Pose is an excellent attitude towards Lord Shiva who is said to be the ace of time, a great source of yoga and the rhythm of life.

Steps To Do Natarajasana

  • First, get into the Tadasana position.
  • Inhale and hold your left leg so that your heel is pointing toward your left buttock and your knee is bent. All of your weight should be put on your right foot.
  • Then push the calf from the right thigh to the hip joint and pull the knee joint up so that your leg is tight and straight.
  • Keep your middle (upper body) upright. Take the left grip from the outside with your left hand. You have to make sure your lower back is not compact. At these lines, make sure that your pubis bone is lifted up towards your belly button. As you do this, you are also pressing your tailbone against the floor.
  • Start by lifting your left leg off the floor and back, away from your center. Extend your left thigh behind you and parallel to the floor. Now stretch your right arm forward with the end goal parallel to the floor.
  • Hold this position for about 20 to 30 seconds.
  • Now return to your original pose with your alternate leg.
